🍄‍🟫🌿🌰Fall Foraging School is Open!

The best way to savor every last bit of the season

🍄‍🟫🌿Let’s savor the harvest season together🌿🍄‍🟫

I always think I want summer to last forever (and truly, it always goes way too fast), but somehow I am surprised every August and the absolute THRILL I feel about the coming crisper weather, ripe fruit, delicious nuts, and soothing slow-down feeling of autumn to come.

Did you spend as much time outside as you wanted to this summer? It can be hard to fit it all in each season, and even I struggle to get out into the woods as much as I want to with all the other tasks life always asks of us. That’s why I love having these regularly scheduled programs, that make sure to get us outside and dropping in with the natural world — and learning! and feasting! and making new friends!

For the end of summer and rolling into the colder months, I have opened registration for two chances to join Foraging School:

🍃Early Fall Foraging🍃
August 27th- October 1st

🍂Late Fall Foraging🍂
October 8th- November 12th

This program combines what I think are the two best ways of really beginning to incorporate wild food into your life with:
1. Weekly walks to get continued practice noticing, identifying, and getting up close with the plants and fungi as they change through the season
and
2. Half-day workshops every other weekend to experience harvesting, cooking, processing and making medicine with the wild foods!

All walks take place Thursday, 10-11:30am
     Workshops alternate Sundays, 10am-1pm

I hope you’ll join us for this harvest season, to connect with the natural world, learn wild food, savor autumn, and build community with folks passionate about our planet.

Sharing is caring- it’s a huge help for small businesses any time you share our programs with folks who may be interested!

Foraging Now

This time of year, the fields and forests can look like a wild tangle of endless green - but if you know what to look for, there is so much to forage right now. Our summer rains have brought chicken of the woods, chanterelles, black trumpets, lobster mushrooms and milkcaps aplenty. The woods and roadsides are bursting with beautiful flowering bee balm, elderberry drooping low with the weight of countless clusters of fruit, our tiny wild blueberries speckling the mountainsides, and check your garden - there are likely tasty “weeds” like lambsquarters and purslane right in your neighborhood.

With the abundance of rain (and fungi fruiting), I’ve been doing some ‘shroom preservation this week. Check out my recipe for savory, summery, delicious chicken of the woods butter, and see below for a new infused finishing salt available in the shop!

Remember- there is lots to learn with foraging, so please always do your research before eating anything new to you - or better yet, come learn with me in-person. ❤️

New in Stock

All the summer fungi have come together to make a umami-rich seasoning just for you! Chicken of the woods, chanterelles, cinnabars & milk caps, plus oregano and thyme, combine in our new Savory ‘Shroom Salt. Perfect in cooking or just adding the finishing flavor touches to roasted veggies, potatoes, eggs, popcorn or any savory dish.

You can place an order on the site and pick up on a walk or class, in East Asheville, or add on delivery in the Asheville area.
